Burton European Open………snowy contest EVER!!!!

9 Feb

So after a couple weeks in Tignes, I packed up my stuff and headed back to Laax, this time for the BEO

BEO Laax

I was staying in a hostel with Si, Faye, Isy and Silvia, it was a pretty cool room…..

Our hostel room! Si and Faye:) Hostel

So I got there on the Saturday, and the girls waited until Thursday in the hope that the weather would clear up and we could compete……..but it was pretty much snowy and windy the whole week, the worst weather!!! The guys managed to squeeze in some of their comp in a small window of good weather, but the girls just weren’t so lucky this time:(

Lift to top of slopestyle course!!!

Top of course!!!

BUT we got some epic POW riding in and lots of hanging out with the girls!

Nap time, waiting for news on the contest Pow riding with Katie O, Si and Faye
The girl gang!!!
Brit girls!!!!

I was pretty gutted the girls slopestyle was cancelled in the end, but I just have to think that it wasn’t meant to be for some reason….

I have just arrived in Breckenridge, stoked to be here! Just want to concentrate on actually riding for  a bit and learning some snowboarding! x

O’Neill Evolution, Davos 2013

22 Jan

After Laax I headed over to Davos for the O’Neill Evolution. I had no idea if I was going to be allowed to ride or not as it was invite only for the girls this year. But I was happy to go and hang out anyway

Davos!

When I arrived, they told me that a lot of the girls weren’t coming anymore as they were doing the FIS comp in Canada. So I was in!!! Guess they needed the numbers!

Isy, Celia and Meeeee

I met up with my lovely Austrian friend Isy, Celia from America and Si and Faye (uk crew). As there weren’t many girls there, Isy, Celia and myself thought we would give the pipe a crack……..

Top of Half Pipe!

Now I am a total novice in the pipe, I mean I maybe venture into the pipe once a season for a laugh…..I have no technique and absolutely no idea what i’m doing or even how to drop in properly!!!! But it was good for TTR points so what the hell!

I had a spare board with me, brand new and still in the packaging. So this would be my “pipe board”. I normally blunt my edges off, but the official pipe riders told me that razor sharp edges were best…….so after a few euro carves with my brand new edges on the piste, off I went….

It was actually pretty fun, I wasn’t even nervous because I didn’t even really care about the result I just wanted to have fun! I finished 10th (wont tell you how many people there was)….my first (and probably last) ever pipe contest!!! But stoked that I actually had a chance to ride a TTR pipe contest

Then it was time for Big Air……

Kickers, top of course

There was an option of 2 different size jumps, then into 2 stair sets or a close out wall ride feature.

Rail features

The little jump I found pretty whippy, you would be going so fast when you hit it, then with the whip as well it was kinda hard to keep control. I tried some spins off it in practice but it was really inconsistent. The BIG jump was a lot nicer, but huge….well for me anyway. It was 22meters and the biggest jump I had hit for sure. But I actually felt more controlled on this jump so this is the one I used in the contest

O'Neill Evolution 2013 Davos Qualification Big Air

I couldn’t believe it when I made it through to the finals, bloody hell! There were 4 of us in the final. I knew the other ladies were waaaay better that me so kinda played it safe as I would be stoked to finish in 4th place. Also wanted to come out in one piece!

TV in riders lounge

So finished in 4th place, so so happy!! Its really inspired me that I want to push my riding a lot more and start progressing on big kickers more, I don’t want to be the rubbish one again next year

Final scores

Riding in the finals was a complete novelty for me. Having the camera’s there and my face on the big screen, haha!!! And the live streaming so my mum and dad could watch at home! Really just had to pinch myself and remind myself how lucky I was to even be in this situation

face on the screen haha!!!!

I had a great week hanging out with everyone. I met my new team manager for O’Neill, Jan, and loved hanging out with Isy and Celia so much. And I really cant thank Faye and Si enough for looking after me, calming my nerves and trying to boost my confidence….and Simon the dark horse, really impressed me with his skills!

After Big Air, Isy 2nd, Celia 3rd, me 4th, and the cutest little 14 year old Japanese girl in 1st:)

With this comp, I really was just in the right place at the right time and i’m very lucky that it worked out so well:)

After Big Air x

Now back to Tignes for a couple of weeks……..

Volcom Peanut Butter Rail Jam, LAAX

15 Jan

Spare of the moment I decided to head over to Laax for the Volcom Peanut Butter Rail Jam. My friend Charli was heading over anyway and its always nicer when you have someone to travel with:)
Me and Charli:)

Me and Channi:)

The last street style rail I had hit was in Keystone back in December, Tignes/Val didn’t have any street style features set up when I was there 😦 So was really worried I was going to be pretty rusty

I got there and it was a stairset feature for the rail jam, so straight back in at the deep end haha!

Stairset

It was a actually such a nice set up and just decided I wanted to have fun and take it mellow. Luckily some tricks came back to me and I did actually have a lot of fun!

Top of stairset

Honestly, that standard of rail riding for girls has gone through the roof, it was ridiculously high. Some of my FAVs that I watch edits of were also there;) So that was nice

back1, switch 50 bit of a zeached Backboard:/

So happy I managed to get 5th place which also means that I qualify for the PBRJ European Championships in Avoriaz in March, yeeeey!

Prizes!!

Thank you to Lauren and James for letting us crash in their pimp pad:)

Then it was off to Davos for the O’Neill Evolution……..

Train to Davos

Tignes……

8 Jan

Tignes

So I left Breckenridge just before christmas, couple days at home with the family and then out to Tignes. I did my first ever season in Tignes so every time I come back here it feels like coming home!

Powder

For the whole first week we had so much powder. Never seen so much snow in Tignes, it was ridiculous! So made the most of the powder riding which I never really get to do anymore!

Getting some pow lines!

Then it was christmas so enjoyed chilling out and eating way too much food. New years was a blast too. Im still on my no drinking/being healthy/exercising kick, so didn’t get drunk on new years eve. Actually saw 12 O’clock which was a first! Our apartment couldn’t have been any closer to to MASSIVE party….so felt like I was a part of the celebrations anyway, even though I was tucked up in bed like a loser;)

xmas time!!! View from our apartment new years eve

I’m working for Tignes Spirit whilst I’m here to get some extra cash for the season. Been pretty hectic so far with a few 14 hour shifts over the christmas period!! But its a good crack and I’m grateful for the $$$££££. Rich is the manager this season, so my boss!!! hmmmm

Val Park

The parks are starting to get going here now. They have big plans for the parks this season so fingers crossed it works out. So far just been enjoying some mellow parks laps, filmed a couple runs the other day and hopefully we can get some more done soon:)

filming

Just trying to sort out what I’m actually doing this season. Im the most indecisive person ever, and this season I seem to have to make lots of decisions all the time!!! So need to sort myself out and come up with a concrete plan and stick to it! But should be filled with some comps, trip back to America and some filming….

Ill keep you updated:)

Breckenridge so far……

1 Dec

Im sorry I havent posted for a while. I have been in Breckenridge for a couple of weeks now and to be honest I have just been keeping my head down and concentrating on riding! But I have been taking a few pictures to show what I have been up too:)

Im living with my 2 Australian friends Courtney Phillipson and Jess Rich. A proper girly pad…..although we do have a boy staying with us now too! This has been fun as finally I’m actually living with peop that enjoy trashy girly TV like me!!!! First things first, we put up the decorations (15th Nov….too early??!!!)

Christmas decorations

We also have a family of foxes living near us!!! They seem nice!

me and our pet fox!!!

Everyone in Breck is super healthy. Inspired, I have been on a health kick too. Been riding, then going to the Rec. Centre…..gym, doing Pilates, Yoga, swimming and eating mega healthy (even cut out sweet foods…..well drastically cut down!) . I have never really done this before, figured snowboarding was enough exercise in itself to keep fit. But now I’m learning that looking after my body and really working on core strength is going to be so much more beneficial for my snowboarding 🙂 Boom!

Health kick!

We have been riding Breckenridge and Keystone. Breck only has 2 jumps and couple of little rails at the bottom to hike. Most people have been hiking the jumps as its been getting so busy and its quicker to hike. Here is a pic of Courtney at the top of the Breck jumps…

Courtney Phillipson, Breck Jumps

But we have actually been going to Keystone more as they have a lot more rails and a way quicker lap. Im loving the rails there, so much fun!! They also opened a triple jump line a couple days ago but they have been soooooo busy, so we have actually just been jibbing more. Then going to Breck if we want to jump!

Keystone jibs no ques for keystone rails!!!
Triple line, Keystone

I have been riding and hanging out with some pretty cool girls. I am definitely the shit one in the group, but I feel so honoured and lucky that I even get to hang out with them and ride with them! Its so inspiring and just being around them motivates me to try and get better 🙂 Speech over!!!! So thanks ladies!!! Here is a pic of some of them below….

Girly crew, Jess Rich, Courtney Phillipson, Possum Torr, Katie Blundell

One of my favourite parts of being here is out trips to Woodward. Its so much fun with all the trampolines and everyone keeps saying how beneficial it is for your snowboarding. So I sucked it up and bought myself a season pass, so that means I have to get at least 9 times whilst I am here to make it worth while! Here’s a pic of woodward….

Woodward

So its fair to say that I’m loving Breck a lot and I wouldn’t mind staying forever!!! Stoked that I get to ride this early as I have never started my season so early before. Hopefully I will get some filming done at some point, but for now I feel its more important to learn better snowboarding:)

A picture in The Reason Magazine : )

8 Nov

Really really happy that I have got a picture in this months Reason Magazine. Please excuse my face……this was my “surprised look”……hence why I didn’t pursue an acting career. Didn’t need to do to much rearranging for the shoot, as this is what my rooms normally looks like………pigsty!!!! Thanks so much to James North for taking the pic and to Ian Sansom for doing the article : ) So happy!!

PS. the bed was actually really big, not me small haha

Some mellow laps in Perisher Front Valley Park this summer, sorry is a couple things are a little sketchy, was trying to learn them!

India!!!

19 Oct

After Australia Rich and I headed to India for a month of backpacking. Thought it would be good to do something totally different to snowboarding for a change. Here is what we got up to….

We arrived in the city of Chennai, which is a pretty bad city even by indian standards. We had to walk to the train station the first day to book our train tickets, and it was honestly the most terrifying experience of my life!! Going from the the peaceful mountains straight into the centre of an indian city was the biggest culture shock ever. I think unless you have gone to India its hard to describe what its like, but it is INTENSE, cars, cows, rickshaws, bikes, no rules on the road, (people walk on the road like cars as the pavement is for the homeless) horns, heat, poverty, people grabbing at you, staring, a million men, rubbish EVERYWHERE, dirt, dust and just soooo many people. No westerners AT ALL! Thailand is peaceful in comparison!! I nearly broke Rich’s hand on the walk as I was squeezing it so tight ( even tho you’re not actually supposed to show any public affection!). But this is what I had wanted, I wanted to have a totally different experience! And we def got that!

We made it! back from the train station in one peice, and and the next day we went on our first sleeper train, 16 hours over to Kerela. Sleeper trains are an experience in themselves!!

We arrived in Allepey, Kerela and booked ourselves onto a houseboat……your very own boat with a driver, cook and host. It cruises round the backwaters of Kerela visiting all the little villages. And in contrast to the cities, is soooooo peaceful. Think we had about 5 naps and just ate loads of curry and felt like kings!

Next stop, Varkala, Kerela. Beautiful beach with amazing views. Although not much tanning/swimming. All the females have to cover up as much as poss because of the Indian culture, so just ended up sunbathing in all my clothes! Freaky tan lines! We were pretty much the only westerners on the beach. Indians were fascinated by Rich, they had never seen anyone so tall and white!!!!

We headed up to Goa, just as it was more touristy and would be able to just get some relaxing beach time in. Ha we ended up staying there for 10 days, which kinda feel guilty about, but think we needed it! Few incidents with the cows on the beach trying to steal my pineapple, and a frog attacking me from inside the toilet, but it was a lush break all the same

Then we headed up to Jaipur Rajistan…..30 hour train!! Only had one day so just walked around the Pink City and the bazaars for the day. Still lots of cows, but camels, monkeys and donkeys now too. Felt like we were adjusting more used to the hectic Indian culture

Then that eve we headed over to Agra to get ready to see the Taj Mahal the next day, you’ve kind of got to do it when you go to India! We had breakfast looking over at the Taj, and then we went to see it close up. Was pretty nice! The spent the arvo drinking tea and watching the monkeys jump from roof top to roof top

Then we headed to Kolkata, another 30 hour train. Again, there was a lot of poverty here, seeing the slums and how people live was fascinating but shocking. All the little children with no shoes or clothes playing in the litter : ( From here we decided to do a 3 day boat trip into the Sunderbans Tiger Reserve. This was one of the best experiences I had I think. We walked through all the villages, none of them have electricity or anything at all, but they seemed to be the happiest people ever. The surroundings were beautiful, don’t think the pics do it justice.  Unfortunately we didn’t spot any tigers, but knowing that we were sleeping in an area that there were tigers and crocs was pretty cool, and maybe a little scary!

Then back to Kolkata and then back to the UK. I loved my Indian adventure, it was pretty hardcore but fascinating. There were a lot of good and bad experiences and we certainly have some stories to tell!! 1 month just wasn’t long enough to do everything though, would love to go back and do the Himalayas in the north one day………pretty off curries now though!!!

Its actually so nice to come home, so quiet and the UK is so clean and everyone is so polite!!! But Rich and I have picked up some kind of Indian lurgy, so feeling pretty rubbish now, But def looking forward to getting stuck back into the snowboarding asap : )

Perisher Slopestyle Finals!

17 Sep

So mega quick update as Im just about to leave OZ!! Was a really good last couple of days. Rich had his 30th birthday on Saturday…..we sat on top of the quarter pipe all day and tanned and drank (well Rich drank for the both of us as I was being gay and not drinking!!). Here are some pics

Was pretty gutted that they had put the final round of the Perisher Slopestyle the morning after Richs 30th, but so glad I decided not to drink in the end. Managed to do a run in the comp I  was kinda happy with and I ended up winning the overall series……I well need the money so this is very good news!!! Loved riding with Jess, cant wait to do more with this lady stateside this next season : )

Now we are off to India for a month for Richs 30th and just to do a bit of non snowboard travelling!! Cant wait to get a tan! I am actually so sad to leave Perisher this year, so many good friends there now and I will miss everyone. But definitely leaving OZ on a high : ) Ill update soon from India if we can get internet x

Mile High 4 star TTR

30 Aug

I headed over to Thredbo on Monday to compete in the 4 star TTR Mile High Slopestyle comp. Stoked that such a good event was only just down the road! Got a couple days off work and off I went! My friend Courtney Phillipson came over to Perisher on the Sunday for “training” (well more catching up on gossip than anything!!) Here is a pic of us

The weather in OZ had been pretty bad for a while, but Monday for the first day of the comp was perfect bluebird : ) The course was really long, down bar, bonk jump, HUGE pole jam, step down jump, big jump, bigger jump (70ft)!!! I hadn’t really hit any jumps this size since Breck in February, so was happy to even get over them! It was a really nice course, well built and lots of speed. Here is a pic of the original park plan, it was a little diff in the end but you can get the idea

It was a jam format, but there was lots of people so we only ended up getting 2 runs anyway. But it was ALOT less pressure than your normal comp. You could choose wether you had your run judged or not, and then they would take the best judged run. Figured I would just get all of mine judged as I’m so inconsistent you never know what would happen!! The course was that long they had to split it into 2. So an 1 jam on the first half, then 1 hour jam on the second half.  Meant you didn’t have to link a whole run together which was good news for me!!! Here’s a view from the top of the course (and Courtney in her lush camo jacket!!!)

I have taken some pics of the Mile High website to show the course, all pics are by Alex Roberts

                                                                            Tor Lundstorm

                                                                           Cam Stavely

                                                                            Jess Rich

                                                                                          Silvia Mittermuller

I ended up having a really bad fall on the second to last jump. The lip of the jump had got so slushy, I was one of the last people to drop and just got totally caught up in the slush as I was trying to spin. Somehow managed to over shoot it too and landed on my head, then took out a fence, then took out a spectator. I snapped my board and gave my self a bit of a headache, but happy to be alive!!! Was just more embarrassed than anything, didnt want all this cool pros to think I was a stupid girl!!!!

Then here are the results after the first day, somehow I made 3rd place! For the girls 1st Silvia Mittermuller, 2nd Biba Turnbull, 3rd Me!, Best Trick: Courtney Phillipson…..and Jess Rich did the biggest steeziest backside 7 I have ever seen!

So I had a massive problem, I had no board to ride for day 2 of the event, yikes! Was running around trying to find one, then my friend Cyndi came to the rescue with her little jib board!! So grateful to her!! But I’m so funny with different stuff, takes me ages to get used to something new and feel comfortable on it. Didn’t have the right screws either so my bindings were wobbling around all over the place, complete bodge job!!! But wanted to just suck it up and go for it anyway as I WAS NOT missing the comp!!!! But luck was on my side and the rest of the comp got called off anyway dues to bad weather. So the scores from the first day would count!!!! Feel extremely lucky to come away with 3rd. Def feel like I don’t deserve it and I was just lucky somehow!!

So off I went to Jindabyne last night to collect my novetly cheques!! Was more nervous going up onto the podium in front of everyone than I was in the comp!!! Here are some pics

Now to find a new board so I can ride for the rest of the season : )

Perisher Slopestyle……round 2!

22 Aug

On Saturday night was the 2nd round of the Perisher Playstation Night Series Slopestyle. The week leading up to it was the snowy-ist week so far this season. It cleared for the day time on Saturday so I sacked off riding powder and tried to get some park laps in. But by the evening, the snow and wind had come back with avengence!! Here is a pic of the lovely conditions……

The weather held off a little for our practice runs and I managed to get the run I wanted down, so that was good. But then the weather got so bad for the actual runs and speed went all funny. So just to get through the course in one piece was the main aim!!! Here is a pic from Andy Lloyd on the Perisher website of a front 1 over the first feature (hahaha it looks like I’m trying to go to the toilet!!!, so sorry about my dreadful style!!!!)

In the end they combined the Open Girls with the Junior Girls as there wasn’t that many girls in the comp. I came 2nd : ) Very lucky indeed: )

I know I always say this, but my favourite part of the comps are hanging out with the other girls! I enjoyed my evening trying to keep warm in the cafe with Biba and Jess!

And randomly bumped into my friend Lewis on uk O’Neill. He was over in Perisher for the comp, on his way to NZ (jealous!!). So was nice to hang out and take some laps with him! Here is a pic of me and Lewis

So hopefully the weather is better for the 3rd and last round of the series! But for now, I’m starting to worry about the comp next week……I made it into The Mile High Slopestyle 4 star TTR in Thredbo, to say I’m nervous would be an understatement!!!

Update from Peri……

8 Aug

So not a lot has been happening in the last couple of weeks. The weather has been so on and off that I’ve found it hard to get consistent park riding in. My work days always seem to fall on sunny days! But we have managed to get some OZ POW riding in!!! Here is a pic (was meant to slash and spray the powder but just ended up being a turn, but you can get the idea)

Dragon sent me some new lenses so I can now see in the bad weather, so thank you Dragon : )

On Saturday I went along to the ANALOG DUF RAIL JAM. There was a design competition to  come up with an “unlikely” park feature. The winner got their feature made, and there was a rail jam to christen it!! Guys and girls were all in one category for the jam. I did not perform very well at all, didn’t really like the feature. But my friend Nic Harvey won, woooooooooooohoo!

In media things, noticed the other day (must have walked past it over 100 times before) that my friend Michelle and I are on a poster on the Perisher bridge with Torah Bright from the first year I was here. So that was nice to see

There was a little mention of me in the local newspaper too, it was after the Thredbo comp, I will not repeat what I said as it is the gay-ist thing ever, not very good at answering questions on the spot like that!!

So thats pretty much it for now. Hoping the weather clears soon and we can film again so I can finish my little edit.  Until then, its actually quite nice to try and learn some new tricks in the bad weather….I like it when its foggy and no one can see what I’m doing when I look like a kook trying to learn something!!!!

Perisher Slopestyle….round 1

23 Jul

On Saturday night was the first round of the Perisher Slopestyle event. There is 3 rounds altogether, and you collect points from each round to get an overall position. There is something about competing at night that makes it even more terrifying!!! Here is a pic of the course I stole from FB, sorry its a little blurry

The course was a down bar/gap box into a jump, then a gap to Skullcandy tube, then into 2 more jumps. The course had been slow during the day and I was struggling, was really hoping it would get faster at night…..but it somehow got slower!!!

Think everyone was struggling for speed, even some of the guys, so that made me feel a little better. On my first run I tried to go as fast as I could but knuckled the last jump hard. Kneed myself In my face….bust my nose… lots of blood!!! (excuse the crazy look in my eyes in the pic, must have been the knock to the head, ha!)

Feeling a little shaken, but still wanted to take my second run. Im afraid it went no better…..fell over on the silliest thing, gutted!!! Was pretty embarrassed by my performance and was keen to head to the bar for Tequila…..ended up just going home and was sound asleep in bed by 9.30 PARTY ANIMAL!!!!

I managed 5th overall, and actually had a really nice eve hanging out with all the other girls, so thank you for a lovely evening! Well done to everyone: )……..(Amber Arazny first place, woooohoooooooo!!!) Here is a pic of me and Jess after the last run….

Thredbo Freeride Series…Slopestyle!

18 Jul

Yesterday I headed over to Thredbo for a slopestyle competition with my friend Amber! It was a bit grey and drizzly but I was excited anyway….well more nervous to be honest, in fact very nervous!! But the course looked fun……a lush down bar/tube, into 2 jumps

The lap is quite long for the Thredbo  park so we ended up hiking the slopesyle course…..def need to get to a gym!

The wet weather made the speed a little difficult to judge, one min it was super fast, the next mega slushy and sloooow

Only managed to get a couple of practice runs in as I was a slow hiker!!! Took a couple of bails in the practice so decided to go for a safety run first. Managed to land this : ) Wanted to do something better the 2nd run but totally messed it up

Here is Amber!!! She said that she has a lucky car, and who ever she takes in it to a competition does well!! so think it was because of this I did ok! (thank you Amber!!). Will do some laps around the car park in her car before any comp from now on!!!

Relived its over, had a really lovely day, was fun hanging out with the girls: ) Bit gutted that Im still shorter than everyone, even tho they gave me a higher barrel to stand on, haha!!!

Time to get nervous for the next one now……

Perisher : )

7 Jul

Sorry for not posting for a while, I just haven’t really done anything mega exciting!!! Just riding and having fun!!! Few bits and bobs have been going on in sunny Perisher tho…..

It got off to a rocky start, I broke my board so had to pull out of a comp and some filming for a magazine : ( GUTTED! But luckily there was the ANZ Snowboarding Mag Demo at Perisher a week later and the lovely Scott Godsen (from OZ Ride Snowboards) sorted me out with a new board, so thank you! Here is a pic of the Demo and my new board

I got to go out on a early morning “powder” photoshoot for Perisher which was fun! Andy Lloyd took some pics, hoping they might pop up somewhere soon. A pic of me and Chris (Kibs Clothing) was on the Perisher FB

and here is a picture I took of where we were shooting

Here is a screen print of the TTR results from last season that I took last week (GBR Girls Slopestyle). They have changed over the website now and they haven’t sorted my ranking out yet. So here is the old one, hoping they sort the new one out soon

Me and Rich filmed for the first time yesterday, here are just a couple screen shots

Before I make an edit, really want to learn some new tricks …..don’t want to have the same old stuff every time. So thats what I’m trying to focus on at the moment!

Need to rest my sore knee for a couple of days now. There are some comps coming up soon, and a couple of exciting film projects in the pipeline, so will try and keep you updated : )

Edit from last season and a bit of Perisher!!!

13 Jun

I’m back down under again for another summer shredding in Perisher. Well good to be back, actually feels like home now!! Been mega busy over opening weekend, but managed to get a few days riding in already. Conditions are actually pretty good for this time of year and they have a little park up already, so I’m happy!

Here are some pics….

View from our window!

BHK (the Aussie crew we ride with here!!)

And this popped up in the Perisher Calendar….a pic from last year in the Perisher Slopestyle Comps, I made July, hahaha!!!

And the lovely Rich Jonas has made me an edit from last season……..

Rocket Dog!!!!!

23 May

The shoe company Rocket Dog asked me if I wanted to be an Ambasador for them…….and what girl says ‘no’ to free shoes!!!!!! They were mega generous and this massive box arrived for me this morn, feel very very lucky indeed. Thank you!!!!!!!

New Sponsors : )

15 May

At the Board Test last week in Austria, I was really lucky to pick up a couple of new sponsors!

Dragon hooked me up and gave me some goggles (APXx) and sunglasses (Experience II), so massive thank you for taking me on! Im very happy!!!!!

Was also chatting to the guys at Butta Wax. They are quite a new ish brand of wax for snowboards/skis. Smells lush and is actually pretty good wax. Its all eco friendly, so thats good too. So thank you to them too for looking after me! Here is a link to their website, check them out by clicking on the pic, its all very interesting stuff……

The British Board Test, Kaunertal, Austria

12 May

So on Saturday morning we left Mayrhofen for the Board Test in Kaunertal. Mayrhofen was really pretty in the Spring!!!

The Board test was really quiet this year, but this meant we could get really close to the wildlife!!!!!

Me and Rich stayed with the Ride Team this year, here I am at the Ride Demo Tent testing out my new powder board!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chris Chatt also taking an unusual board for  ride…….

Competed in the Whitelines Rail Jam, got to the final but couldnt land my trick, bummer! But had a really nice time anyway, here are some pics……

Then we had a Ride Team BBQ….LJ (aka Bear Grills) constructed a cracking BBQ……

We also had a Ride Team photo shoot on the damn……

Some of the boys decided to cycle up the mountain, including my team manager for O’Neill, Dan Wakeham, so a massive fair play to them!!!!!!

So I tried to be quite productive at the board test, stayed in every night so I could be on the ball for the next day ( loser I know, hahaha!), so fingers crossed some things should pop up in the near future : )

I also have some good news!!!!! But ill post about all that very soon…….

Here is a pic on the drive home…….Austria is lush!!!

Pictures from Mayrhofen/ Hintertux!

3 May

We arrived in Mayrhofen 2 weeks ago, just after Snowbombing finished! Mayrhofen had closed so we headed up to Hintertux for some glacier spring shredding. We were lucky enough to get some powder days at the start, here are some pics….

All the powder got stuck in Richs massive ginger tash that he has been growing!!!

But then the weather has been a little hit and miss, with the view on the webcams looking like this a lot of the time:

We have tried to ride most days anyway, but often been down by 12 due to the weather. But that means that we have been able to enjoy spring time in Austria! And Mayrhofen is BEAUTIFUL in the spring!!!

We went on a trip to the Gumpen Waterfalls ( think thats what it was called)

Been good to hang out with the Ride Team Manager, Will Lenton, he has been enjoying the beer!

But most afternoons we have been chilling at the park, it has a skatepark, mini golf, tennis courts, vollyball pitch, football pitch……

The best bit is the play area, we had to wait for all the kids to be at school to have a go!

So not much mega park riding unfortunately, but to be honest its been really nice to have some chill time and enjoy the sun. We head over to the Board Test in Kaunertal on Saturday, after the Gouda Festival on Friday, so I will see how that car journey goes!!

A massive thank you to Girlylegs for letting us stay in their pad : ) See you at the Board test next week!
