On Saturday was the last of the Perisher Night Slopestyle Series. Qualifications were in the morning and all of the ladies made it through to the night competition. As it is the end of the season here, conditions of the snow are a little hit and miss. But the course held up pretty well. Either a street style box or a flat down rail to hit at the top, then into four jumps
By the evening time the slush had frozen and the course was pretty firm. I did a safety run first and manage to stay on my feet. Then I went for a better run but slipped over on the icey landing : (
The girls once again were KILLING it!!! The standard of chicks here is pretty high and everyone had stepped it up for the last comp. I missed out on the podium and came 4th, which I was really happy with. I was so nervous (again) and actually felt like I was going to throw up at the top of the course this time….really need to sort this out!!
These are the only pics I can find of the chicks so far
Amber Arazney
Aubriana Dunn, First Place Overall Champion
Relived its over now and so stoked I got to ride with some girls that I have idolised for a while!!!
Me and the girls in the qualifications
Think I managed 4th place in the overall series too which is awesome. Good finish to the season!!
Here is a vid from the night, im not in it but I was there….probably throwing up at the top of the course!!
On media this morning, we did some hiking and actually found some quite nice powder. Its been such bad weather recently that this was a nice surprise!! Here is this morning media report :
A few weeks ago, Rich and I went Trampolining with some friends in Jindabyne. We were pretty shit, but we had heaps of fun anyway. Here is a funny edit I made of our night…….(I’m really bad at editing but I’m trying to learn! ). Watch Rich throw down some killer moves and our friend Louis get inverted, yeeewww!
We have filmed for the last couple of days in Perisher. Really hope we can get enough shots for another edit but its pissing it down at the moment so we will see! But here are some screen grabs anyway with some of the crew……
Rich Nose Press Front 1
Token Indy-Hip
Rocco Front Board
Troy Seatbelt-Hip
Katie Backside 5-0
Pauly Stalefish-Hip
Rich Back 5 Nose

Katie Nollie Back Tail
Only a couple weeks left in OZ now, then back to sunny england : ) x
So this season I have been doing some of the riding for the Perisher snow reports. Today they decided to mix it up a bit and do a 80s inspired report with one-pieces and retro ski moves!!! At first I wanted the ground to open up and swallow me whole…..but then I found myself getting quite into my character! Luckily they didnt use all my shots as some of them I took a bit too far and are a little embarrassing, but take a look at the report…..I’m the one that looks a bit special! This goes on OZ TV, sooo glad I dont know that many people here!
When the main park was closed for some skier comp, we headed over to Blue Cow Park and hiked a gas pipe for a few hours with some of the BHK guys! Just a fun edit, nothing serious and def nothing spectacular by me, but as usual the boys were killing it. Listen to Rich swearing at all the people snaking me, what a nice boyfriend, haha! Hope you like it : )
So saturday was the 2nd round of the Perisher Slopestyle Night Series. Because it was so popular last time, this time you had to do heats in the morning to get through to the night comp. As there were not many girls in my category, we all got through anyway which was lucky for me! So we just used the heats to get used to the new course and the new bigger money booter! Jed and Harley from our crew (BHK) got through too so I was stoked that we were all in the finals together again. No pics of me or the boys have surfaced yet, so here are just some pic of the course!
A snowboarder on the jibs
Then onto the evening event. Again, I was so SO nervous. Even after promising myself that I wouldn’t get nervous this time! The course was pretty firm so I was a little cautious. I went for a safety run my first run and actually landed everything this time thank god. Nothing too tech but I was happy to stay on my feet for once!
A skier on the Whale Tail!
Then the second run I wanted to go for it!!!! I don’t know how I managed it but I was actually excited for this run rather than nervous, which was a totally new experience for me! But then disaster struck and I fell over on a straight air, oooops! Had to miss out a jump but then thought I had enough speed still for the last big jump……oh how wrong was I. Tried to spin off it but landed hard on the knuckle and bounced very ungracefully down the landing! Was kinda glad that I at least got the balls up to try and spin it anyway. For me it was quite a big jump to spin off so was trying to console myself with that thought!!
Snowboarder on the last big booter!!!
Straight to the pub to drown my sorrows! Unfortunately I didn’t place, came 4th place, my safety run wasn’t enough. But I am excited for the final event in sept……..and if anyone would like to teach me how to snowboard before then it would be very much appreciated!!!
All was not lost as I got to hang around with some really cool girls for the day who are really REALLY good snowboarders and an inspiration to watch. So a pretty fun day/night in the end : ) x
So here it is, finally!!! Our first edit from OZ this season, edited by Rich Jonas. He has tried to be a bit creative with this one….It also features members of the BHK, the guys we have been riding with here. They kill it! Enjoy : )
Here is sick little edit from the BHK……the guys we have been riding with in OZ. Check out the synchronized spinning from Rich and Harley!! Edited by Mitch Ayers!!! Rich’s new edit will be out very soon too. Enjoy : )
Saturday night was the first of 3 night series competitions at Perisher. You accumulate points throughout the 3 events and get an overall placing at the end. Bellow is a pic of the park crew building the slopestyle course:
The park was rebuilt especially for the comp, and it was a REALLY good set up….but quite intimidating at the same time…. all the features had been taken up a notch for the comp. It was my first night time comp too, so a very different experience!
A lot of the Australian pros were there and it was turning into quite a big event. I found out that the whole of the Australian Roxy team were going to be there, including Torah Brights sister Abby (see pic bellow)…. so I was pretty much sh****g myself!!!!!!
My first run seriously sucked! I was so nervous. I went for a safety run but fell twice. I was a bit bummed out but then figured I was prob last place now anyway so I had nothing to to loose! So I relaxed a little more, went for a better second run and managed to stay on my feet, yey!!!
This is the only pic i’ve found of me so far…think I was going for a Tail Grab???!!!
Our friends that we normally ride with were doing it too, and they def helped to calm me down a bit, so thank you Jed and Harley!!!! Harley and Jed did amazing. Jed (the peoples champion!!!) won some goggles for doing a sick back 7 and Harley did such a solid run with his stezzy style, and stomped every single trick. So I was really stoked for our little crew : )
Jed Davidson, the peoples champion!!!!!!!
I came 3rd place which I was so so happy with. I really couldn’t believe it! The standard was so high and I think I was just really lucky to be honest. The chicks here seriously kill it!! Relieved its all over now, but I really need to step things up for the next one I think!
Im really superstitious and this is spooky…….I had bib number 40 in both comps this week and came 3rd in both……so now I feel like I need to get bib 40 every comp now for good luck!!!!
Oh and if anyone has any tips on how to control nerves ( not including vodka, I’ve tried this) please let me know!!!
Here is a video that shows some of the event, ill post the official vid when it comes out
Yesterday I headed over to Thredbo for the Thredbo Freeride Series. Its a series of 5 events over the season, and I went over for the Slopestyle. It was my first time to Thredbo…….and my first time leaving Perisher this season! My friend Nathan/Louis (not sure which name he prefers) gave me a ride over there…..so a big thank you to him!
Nathan/Louis
The weather wasn’t amazing….well it was pissing it down!! But still 100+ turned up for the comp. The standard was pretty high and the rails pretty gnarly. We only got a couple of practice runs, then the rain eased off and we were on.
It was a down rail, to gap to down rail, to 2 jumps
We got 2 runs and as usual I was VERY nervous. I went for a mega safety run on my first and managed to not fall. Then went for a better run but fell twice. I came 3rd overall!!!!!! I was so happy for my first oz comp! The girls are really really good! I hung out with my friend Jade for the day, a girl I met on my first season in oz. She is an AMAZING rider. She came in 2nd!!!
sorry, my Ebay camera is still s**t
So a good day, nice to experience another mountain, although I would like to go back there when its sunny. BUT, the highlight of my day was on the drive up to Thredbo in the morning…….. I got the shock of my life when I saw these 2 Emus just chilling on the side of the road. They are like gigantic Chickens with orange eyes! I took a pic but it didn’t come out that well, but you can just about make it out
Im over the Kangeroos now, it’s all about the Emus!
So we have finally managed to get on some filming in Perisher! Its been hard as its been snowing quite a bit and the park has been a little up and down. But its sick now, so we took the camera up for the last couple of days…..one jib day and one kicker day! Here are just some screen grabs from the footage ( so not amazing quality! )……….
Rich…..Method to Front Board on stair set
Katie….Back 3 Mute
Rich….Hard Way Front 1
Katie….Nose Tap Tail Grab
Watch out for an edit coming in the next few weeks………
So its snowing again here in Perisher, lots of snow but crazy winds. So for the Snow Report this morning we went and got some fresh tracks through the sheltered Gum Tress………
Most of the mountain was on wind hold today, so everyone bundled to the few lifts that were running. Here is a pic of the lift queue today!!!! (thank you to Louis for taking the pic for me)
Its supposed to keep snowing till the weekend with even crazier winds. So lots of tea drinking and keeping warm for the next few days. But when it stops, they have big plans to re-build the park, so i’m excited for that : )
haha, stoked to have made it onto Super Slam Friday for the 2nd time: ) Unfortunately I look like some kinda dead chicken bouncing off the knuckle! Check out some of these slams though……………………………
Todays snow report in Perisher!!! Lush weather, good snow and my friends and I making some turns for the Perisher Snow Report, haha! Susie the skier and Louis the flipper!!! (and of course Mel the camera girl). Maybe more snow on Monday……….
They have had the ACP Demo here in Perisher over the weekend…kinda like the UK Board test. I went and hung out with Scott Gosden, the Australian rep for Ride. Here is a pic of us at the demo tent
Scott really kindly sorted me out with a new board as my old one had seen better days!!! It’s a 139 Compact…..I’m mega stoked : ) So a huge thank you to Scott and to Matt for sorting it all out for me on the UK side of things. I stickered it up and took it for a ride today, it was sweet!!
And thank you to Rich for taking these pics as my £16 camera I bought from Ebay is S**t !!!
Gonzilla have just posted this video of the Whitelines Rail Jam at the Boardtest “Super Slam Friday”!! Check out some of the slams, mine’s not that bad but take a look at miss Helen Fox’s bail……..
